This is done to generally to fight against the threat of increasing silver prices. Bi-metal contacts fulfill its purpose as copper and silver are good conductor of heat and electricity. Here the shank and part of head is made of OFHC copper and upper part is of silver.
Bi-metal contacts can be made using different alloys as per customer requirements (Ag, AgCd, AgCdo, AgNi, AgSn, AgTn, AgPb, etc.) Bi-Metal contacts can also be provided with silver-plating if required.
